The whole thing left us with a terrible taste, even though we eventually got our full refund. We reported what happened through Booking, and then the hotel started saying they didn’t trust us. We stopped responding. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. We booked a suite expecting a nice stay, but the bathroom was covered in mold and the room smelled damp and musty. Within five minutes we were coughing and our throats were irritated, so we calmly asked the front desk for a refund. The agent said he was new and couldn’t authorize it, and told us to come back the next day to speak with the manager. We trusted him and returned. That was a mistake. The receptionist on duty was rude and refused a full refund, trying to take out card fees and taxes. We had booked through Booking and canceled there, and Booking had already approved a free cancellation, so there was no reason to make it partial. They also wanted to pay us in cash instead of refunding the card we’d used, which felt really sketchy. In the end, the receptionist basically said we could do whatever we liked, but they weren’t giving anything back. I’m giving one star only because the form won’t let me post without it. This place is completely unacceptable.

The location was good, but the torn bed sheets and toilet paper that was never replaced were frustrating. Breakfast was served on the roof of the hotel next door, which had no elevator. It was a strange setup. The hotel is right by a mosque, so expect frequent calls to prayer.

The staff were friendly, and my room was cleaned every day. It’s not a five-star place, but for me the main things were having a clean bed and breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was an open buffet with the same food each day, which was fine. Sultan Ahmet is about a 10-minute walk away. From there you can take the metro to places like Sirkeci, Eminönü, and Gülhane, or walk if you enjoy that. An Istanbul card costs around 20 or 21 TL, and a ride is 7 TL per person wherever you’re going.

The rooftop breakfast came with a nice sea view, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s close to most of the tourist spots, and the price felt fair for what you need on a short Istanbul visit.
