Burckin Hotel

The rooftop cafe was a highlight, with lovely service and kind staff. The hotel is also conveniently close to the Grand Bazaar, Aya Sofia, and Blue Mosque. I really liked staying here, and it was an easy place to enjoy a worry-free vacation.

We left late at night with our family because we couldn't tolerate the smell or the small fleas and ticks around the edges of the beds. The room was filthy, with hair all over the pillows and sheets and dust everywhere. Service was awful, and there were big arguments during the whole process. Whoever was at the counter was disrespectful. I understand the booking was nonrefundable, but if rooms aren't clean or ready to be serviced, at least refund the money. This place doesn't even provide free water, let alone complimentary tea or coffee, which most four-star hotels provide. You have to pay for every single thing. In my opinion, this shouldn't be rated as a four-star hotel. It feels more like a three or even a two, with extremely small, dirty rooms, poor customer service, and high prices. Absolutely disappointing.

Everything is nearby, and for the money we paid, this place is really good value. I stayed a few days and got free breakfast too. The room wasn't super clean, but it was alright. There wasn't a kettle or even a bottle of water in the room, but it's still okay value for what you pay.

The location is amazing, off the main street with great cafes nearby and an incredible view of Haga Sofia and Blue Mosque. I'd suggest getting a room with a balcony. The restaurant on the top floor is a must for me. I ate there several times, and they even brought food to my room on a few occasions so I could eat on the balcony. I stayed twice, first for six days and then came back for five. The hotel isn't new, and the rooms are very small and could use updating and balcony cleaning, but the housekeeping did an amazing job keeping everything clean and were always polite. Burga at the front desk became a friendly face I enjoyed greeting every day. It's just what you'd imagine in a city full of history, and while it isn't the newest hotel, it gave me lifelong memories in a vibrant, historic city.
