Crowned Plus Hotel

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The photos online don’t match its actual condition, and I was given a different room from the one I booked. Changing rooms cost me an extra £75. There was mold in the bathroom from a leak and an unpleasant smell throughout the room. The safe was barely secured, sitting right on the floor where it could easily be taken. The elevator starts only on the first floor, which makes room access difficult for disabled guests.

We enjoyed quiet evenings on the rooftop balcony, which had a fantastic view and was never busy. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast lady. The location is perfect for sights and transport. Rooms were a bit small, and the minifridge wouldn’t plug in where it was meant to. Breakfast was good, though I’d have liked more variety. For this price, it’s a good choice for someone staying in Istanbul with moderate needs.

The roof has a nice view, and the entrance lobby is nicely decorated. The central location makes it easy to reach the main tourist attractions, though the room was small. Cleanliness was so-so, but staff changed the towels daily. Breakfast wasn’t great, though there were options like boiled eggs, vegetables, some salads, cheese, and cereals. You won’t go hungry, but it doesn’t feel like a hotel breakfast. The wifi is quite weak, though sometimes it works well. A clothes hanger by the entrance and a trash can in the room would help, since there’s only one in the bathroom. The bathroom could use more attention to cleaning too.

I don’t recommend this place. The day I arrived, reception staff were aggressive and unfriendly. The hotel was in very poor condition, smelled of cigarettes everywhere, and my room hadn’t been cleaned. The floor and bed were dirty, there was an empty chips packet in the box, the plumbing leaked, and the towels in the bathroom were torn. I asked for a guest book when checking out, but was told they had none. The photos and reviews on Google and Booking don’t match what I found. This felt more like a hostel than a hotel, and I believe they’re deceiving people. Room 404. Check-in 10/08/2023. Check-out 10.10.2023.
