The owner’s response to my complaint was what really shocked me. He joked that they knew about the chef but couldn’t let him go, then told me not to blame them for “the fly.” Later, while I was getting ready to go to the hospital, he asked if I’d cursed the chef because the chef had suffered a heart attack the night before. I’d never wish that on anyone, and I’ve lost a close friend to a heart attack. That lack of empathy was unbelievable. Earlier that Saturday, I’d showered and gone to the restaurant with my family. I was recovering from surgery and had just had my tubes removed, so I really didn’t want to leave the hotel. My wife asked for a dish from the menu, but staff said they couldn’t make it because they were too busy. There were only around eight other diners. We said we were happy to wait, but they still refused, spoke rudely and sarcastically, and basically told us to leave. I then had to walk half a mile to find somewhere to eat, which was very difficult in my condition. The start of our holiday had been great, but our stay went downhill from there. The management handled this unprofessionally and showed no basic customer care. I won’t return, and I’d advise others to stay elsewhere.

The rooms were spacious and really clean, and the place is close to everything. The staff were keen to help and make things work for you. I’d definitely recommend staying here!

Breakfast with that lovely view gave us a fresh start every morning of the trip. We also liked the warm service and the location, about a ten minute walk from the pier. The room itself was a little old and plain, but we’d happily come back someday.

The restaurant food was delicious, and the view there was decent too. It’s an easy walk to a ferry, which makes a good place to begin exploring such a huge city. Rooms are a little small, but clean and generally well equipped. The staff were friendly and dealt with any issues quickly and thoughtfully. I’d stay again if I’m back in Istanbul.
