Golden Age Hotel Istanbul

I’ve been in Istanbul on my own for 11 days. I’m not on a shoestring, but I’m not tossing around $100 bills either. My hotel is mostly very nice, though I won’t be reviewing it, and it’s meant to have a shuttle on a set schedule. The shuttle didn’t show today. Maybe it runs on other days, but I waited over an hour outside the Golden Age Hotel. Then a very young bell hop from GAH came over. I expected him to tell me to move along, but he asked what I was waiting for, offered me a seat on the patio, and even asked if I wanted coffee or tea. That kind of friendliness and help is unheard of in the US. It made me wish I’d stayed there. Well done.

My wife and I had a pleasant stay, and whenever we needed anything, one call was enough. The rooms were neat and clean, and the location was great. I’d happily stay again when I’m back in Istanbul. I first walked in as a potential customer to check the price and see a room. The staff were cooperative and helpful, explaining the details warmly enough to convince me to book. Thanks to Mr.Fateh, Mr Erdi, and Mr UFUK at the front office for the guidance, prompt help with my luggage, and to Mr.Ikram from room service as well.

For a work trip near Taksim Square, this could be a good choice. For sightseeing, I wouldn’t recommend it. The neighborhood didn’t feel very safe to me. The hotel itself was neither bad nor particularly good, and everything felt pretty average.
