The room itself had several problems: the radiator and air conditioner both failed, so it was very cold, and the curtain was torn. There were stains on the bed linens, and there was no sound insulation, so I could hear the neighbors talking all night. Check-in was a mess too. I had confirmation by email for a prepaid five-night booking, but they first said they couldn't find it, then asked me to spend the first night at another hotel and return the next day. I reminded them I'd paid for five nights, and they eventually gave me a room.

The T1 tram was only a few minutes away, and the hotel sits among plenty of places to eat, including McDonald's, with some shops down the road. For what we paid, that location was a real bonus. Grand FM was the last of three hotels we stayed at during our three weeks in Istanbul, and it was easily the best. The whole place felt cosy, the rooms and toilet were very clean, and the Wi-Fi was much quicker than at the other hotels. Staff were friendly, kind, and attentive. I'd been nervous about budget hotels, so I was really grateful for how well this stay went.

They kept moving us between rooms even though we were meant to have one room for the whole stay, and the room we got wasn't the one we paid for. The staff were nice and helpful, but their English wasn't very good. Poor management. We won't stay there again.

Breakfast is available, and the place is close to shops, so it's a good place to stay. My concern was the window seal: it wasn't good enough to keep out the sound of passing cars or people talking loudly. Apart from that, it was good.

Disgusting place, messy and dirty, with broken things everywhere and rude staff. The worst hotel. Why is it like this?
