Hotel Barbarosa

I made a last-minute booking and it went smoothly. The rooms were really nice and the staff helpful. Just note that the hotel is called Hotel Constantinopolis. Barbarosa is the restaurant, and the hotel is behind it.

I had a great stay, and the restaurant was fantastic.

The rooms were clean and the furniture was new. Apart from that, this was the worst hotel experience I've had. Our location was inconvenient, at least a 10-minute uphill walk from Çemberlitaş metro station, in a pretty dirty neighborhood. We booked a triple room that looked like the one in the photos, but on arrival found a double bed and a sofa bed. When we raised it, the owner insisted we'd booked a room without windows and offered to show us basement rooms. We hadn't booked that. The staff and owner showed no concern. There were only two blankets for three of us. After repeated requests, they eventually gave us a thin one, and the friend who used it was sick for the rest of the holiday. We'd arranged an airport transfer in advance and provided the details, but nobody came to collect us. The hotel blamed us. Breakfast was awful: each person could choose one sandwich, and two people could share one spread breakfast. It wasn't tasty or filling. The bread was stale, the waiters inexperienced, the service poor, and the tea bitter. The sheets had bloodstains, the rooms felt cramped, and we could hear everything from the next room. Honestly, I'd say don't come to Istanbul rather than stay here.

A lovely little place in a rather nice neighborhood. My room was pleasant and clean.
