Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy Hotel

Breakfast had a big, varied buffet. One thing bothered me, though: staff were too quick to take away plates when I hadn't finished, including while I went to get coffee. We arrived early, but checking in ahead of time was no problem. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional, especially Eray. The room was spacious, with a big bed, and the toilet, shower and bathtub were all very clean and nice. The amenities and soaps were good too. We also enjoyed the pool, gym and sauna. The hotel is a little outside the main tourist areas, but it's easy to reach by train or subway from Ataköy station, about a 10-minute walk away. We had a wonderful stay.

We’re here for six nights, but I’ll probably stay elsewhere next time. The water problem was never fixed despite three requests, and better follow-up would have made a difference. I’m facing one last night of getting scorched by the shower. Hot water kept flipping between hot and cold, so showers went from freezing to burning. The front desk sent a plumber each time, but even after the third visit, when he spent about 30 minutes replacing the tap, the problem remained. It wasn’t the tap. Nobody offered to move us to another room or floor, even though it was off season. Oddly, the showers by the pool worked fine. The hotel itself is fairly nice for a Hyatt. Rooms are clean, and the pool and sauna are very nice. The restaurant is good, though not quite up to the standard I expected. Housekeeping was inconsistent: after two days without tea bags being replenished, I left a note. Toiletries were sometimes missed, and I had to ask for tissues because the box was empty. We got two 500 ml water bottles, but extra bottles cost 1 euro each. Room service was pricey and uneven. Two sliced oranges cost 27 euros. The Caesar salad arrived soggy, and the chicken was only a little warm. The steak was good, as were the chicken fingers and fries, and the lentil soup was delicious. The menu listed brewed herbal teas, but they had none in stock, just green and black tea. My partner and I both have dust allergies and started reacting when we entered the room. Antihistamines helped, but we shouldn't have had to take them.

Yusuf at the front desk helped us check in and arranged Suhur through in-room service, which we really appreciated. We were there for just one night during a Turkish Airlines layover, and the service was very good. The room was very nice, though the property felt a bit dated and could use a refresh. We enjoyed our short visit, but the hotel is quite far from Istanbul's main tourist areas. I wish we'd had more time to explore.

EBRAR, Selena, Firdevs and Putra were wonderful, and the breakfast buffet was fabulous, though there weren't many meat choices. What I saw at breakfast was unpleasant: a staff member removed placemats from a dirty table, took two from another table, then flipped the dirty ones over and put them back. The tables were only wiped with a napkin that was already dirty. We enjoyed the suite and the upgrade, and appreciated being recognized as globalist. The room was spacious and very nice, but the rug was dirty and a towel from under the sink was filthy. I also left my suitcase on the couch so I could get things out without bending to reach it on the floor. Having it moved was frustrating. The hotel is in a safe-feeling spot once you pass security and enter the clean lobby, but it's not close to much, so getting places took some effort. The restaurant served uncooked chicken wings. The spa was ridiculously expensive and didn't feel worth the money. Maybe that's why we never saw anyone getting treatments. The hotel itself was good, and I WOULD RECOMMEND.
