Inside Hotel Sisli

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the hotel sits in an alley near the Taksim area and park. But in both rooms we took, the A/C was too hot and didn't cool at all. Whenever we called reception, they said it was working fine.

We were there for five days and had a whale of a time. Mert at the front desk got us ironing equipment, and our connecting room on the first floor had plenty of space for our luggage. We'd heard complaints about the beds and air conditioning, but neither bothered us. In fact, we slept better than ever.

The rooms are in good shape and the location is good, but nearly everything else was a nightmare. You can hear people talking in neighboring rooms, and the receptionist controls the A/C temperature. When I said our room was far too hot, they told me I had to get used to it. They keep it at 20c, so the choices are turning it off and letting the room get very hot, or having it too cold. What bothered me most was Mert at reception and his bad attitude. He kept saying that's just how the hotel is, and that I had booked it, not him. I'd tell people to stay away if they can.

(Nov 2017) Istanbul's changing character seems to have affected the hotel's customer mix, and Sishli is no exception. Some Middle Eastern immigrants behave badly in the rooms. Compared with the past, rooms at Sishli Hotel are disturbingly dirty, and the hotel has become poor at proper cleaning. We had to change rooms twice in one night, along with other serious problems. Strongly not recommended.
