Kate Hotel Istanbul

The worst part of our stay was the shower. On the last day, what looked like lint or dirt turned out to be live drain larvae. We washed away at least 20 at once, but more showed up about an hour later. A few are visible in the video. When we told reception, they said they'd look into it, with no apology. If we'd found them sooner, we would've canceled and gone elsewhere. The hotel looks good, much like the photos, and smells nice. The location is great, though in Sultanahmet you hear the muezzin quite a bit. In May, the first call was around 4 AM. The cleaning lady replaced our water bottles every day, which was a nice touch. The larvae seemed part of a bigger upkeep problem. The shower was dirty, the silicone was grimy, and the hangers and showerhead holder were loose. At breakfast, the room looked nice, but chairs were a bit dirty and the tables and floor often felt sticky. The food selection was okay, though the display was messy and poorly presented. Omelettes and pancakes were made during breakfast, and new water bottles were put in the fridge daily. The coffee was terrible. A cappuccino was better as a separate espresso shot with warm milk. WiFi was very poor and slow, working sometimes and not others, but that was the least of our problems.

We got 20% off at the restaurant, where the food was amazing. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the rooms were clean. Our quadruple room had enough space for two adults and two kids without feeling cramped. Great spot if you're exploring the old city.

The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff made us feel welcome and looked after. The location was incredible too. I stayed at the Kate Hotel for a few days a couple of weeks ago and have nothing but good things to say. Highly recommend it!

The dining was a real plus: breakfast and dinner were both delicious and high quality, and guests get special discounts and benefits when eating there. Mr. Adnan deserves a mention for his courtesy and discretion. He knows how to welcome people with care and grace. The hotel is central, with the main historical monuments a short walk away, so you can see almost everything on foot. Rooms were spotless, and it was very quiet, which made it easy to rest after a busy day. A gem in the heart of Istanbul. I'll definitely return.
