Lady Diana Hotel

The room setup was the big letdown. It was much tighter than I expected, with barely room to open a suitcase, and the only window was fake, looking into a janitor's closet full of supplies. I wouldn't have felt entirely comfortable there on my own. The bathroom, though, was clean, modern and surprisingly roomy. Lady Diana Hotel is ideally placed for the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and other sights, all a short walk away. Breakfast on the rooftop came with incredible Istanbul views, which was a lovely start to the day. The reception had a relaxed feel, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The location and facilities are good, but the room arrangement could be much better.

The staff were so caring and made us feel looked after the whole time. Sharing the Turkish spa experience as a couple was really nice, and I've never felt so pampered.

The service was good and the location is great, but the rooms were cramped and not as clean as a four-star place should be. Breakfast was another disappointment, with hardly any choice. The photos online looked perfect, which made the reality feel even more disappointing. We wouldn't come back, mainly because of the cleanliness and the tiny rooms.

The hotel is handy for sightseeing, with the Blue Mosque an easy walk away, but breakfast was very basic and there wasn't much variety. We were four people in two rooms, and the heat in one room became a serious problem. Our mother can't tolerate excessive heat; her face grew swollen and red and she developed a heat rash. Staff told us the underfloor heating was off, but the room was still piping hot. We asked to move rooms because of her condition, but the request was refused and handled unhelpfully. Her symptoms got worse. She also became unwell during a massage, passing out and breaking into cold sweats. Afterwards she couldn't walk properly. At reception we asked if a qualified medical professional, such as a doctor, could assess her. Instead, we were told to ask the massage staff because they were supposedly “more than qualified.” That didn't reassure us. A hotel this size should have access to a qualified medical professional or clear emergency procedures. During the emergency we asked for a drink to help her regain some energy and were given a Fanta. We understand drinks aren't free, but being asked to pay immediately while we were distressed and focused on helping her felt disappointing. A little patience and understanding would've helped. The whole stay fell short of what we expected.
