Service was excellent throughout my four days there. I had no service issues, the bathroom was clean, and the internet was great. We booked through Loveholidays and got a very cheap package, so I was worried, but the service was up to the mark. Don't expect a five star hotel, or even a four star one. Still, for the location and service, I'd highly recommend it to young couples and people who want to explore the city and have a decent place to rest. It's almost in the middle of the city center, about a seven minute walk to Grand Bazar, with great food just steps away and lots of restaurant options nearby. The hill up to the hotel is very steep, though. If walking isn't your thing, I'd recommend finding somewhere closer to Grand Bazar.

All praise to the gentleman in the kitchen for his work and cleanliness. We were lucky not to be on the fourth floor, where guests we spoke with said they had no internet. The stay itself was a mess. We'd booked and paid through an agency, but at arrival the receptionist rudely said they were full and had no room for us, and would transfer us to another hotel. He offered no apology and said with a smile that we wouldn't have to pay extra, maybe it was his mistake. In the morning he said our room would be ready, but it wasn't, so we left our things for safekeeping. When we came back in the early evening, another receptionist didn't know where our belongings were and kept us at the desk for half an hour. He said we weren't in the system, then only found us in it after calling colleagues, at our prompting. His delay meant we missed a scheduled dance at the theater and stayed in the room. When we left, he claimed taxis don't work on Sundays and he'd call one, but taxis were running and we ordered one through the app. The staff were rude and seemed only interested in taking money. I've never had a worse hotel experience.

Other guests were complaining too, and we could hear them talking and yawning through the walls. There was even hair left on the bathroom wall, which they never removed. We stopped asking for cleaning after all they did was replace towels and the garbage bag when we left a sign on the door. The shower, ceiling panel, lamp, socket, and mirror were broken, the sink leaked, and the lamps were dusty. I was afraid to touch the hairdryer. Staff said the other rooms were similar. I'm glad we didn't pay for breakfast because I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen was. Never rely on this "hotel's" positive reviews. Worst hotel I've ever been to.

The location was great, but I'd pay more for somewhere nicer. We booked a twin room with a balcony and never got one. The air conditioner started dripping after ten minutes, and rooms at the front are noisy. Night staff weren't always around to answer the door, and breakfast was poor.

The room was tiny, dirty, and so noisy that sleep was impossible. We could hear prayers at 10pm and 5am. When we arrived at 10pm on May 30, receptionist Suleyman tried to sell us cruises for 30€, even though a Bosphorus cruise really costs 4€. We cancelled the rest of the booking online, keeping only the first night. Suleyman came to our room angry and demanded payment for that night, though we had already paid through booking.com. He eventually yelled that we were foreigners who didn't understand the rules and should leave if we wouldn't pay again. It was 1am, and we ended up shouting at each other. Fifteen minutes later, he said we didn't need to pay twice. He showed us no respect and never apologized. Breakfast was disgusting. We moved to Okda hotel, where the staff were respectful and the rooms clean and quiet. I don't recommend May hotel.
