Parmada Hotel Old City

Breakfast had a much bigger choice than I expected from a small hotel. I’d read some bad comments about it, but I’m pretty sure the service has improved recently. The room was clean and well equipped, with a comfortable bed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Most spoke English. Getting around was easy too, with the subway and a tram to the main sights in the city center close by. I’d give it five stars if not for two things. There was a loud sound in the room that seemed to come from a water pipe in the building, though traffic noise outside wasn’t too bad thanks to the good windows. Cigarette smoke was also constantly noticeable in the room, including through the ventilation. That may be a common issue in the country, which doesn’t seem very accommodating to non-smokers.

We had two power cuts during our stay, and the breakfast food wasn’t replenished when it ran out. The water dispenser handle was black, and a staff member smoked in the breakfast area right beside the food. The room smelled strange, possibly from the sewage pipes. It was so dirty that our wipes turned black when we cleaned the surfaces. The whole experience was awful, very smelly, and the worst hotel stay ever.

The employees were extremely rude and disrespectful. Customer service was very bad. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff were welcoming and really friendly, and there were nice options at breakfast. The hotel is right across from the tramvay. Its soundproof windows kept most of the noise out.
