Régie Ottoman Istanbul

The area around Regie Ottoman was a real plus. It’s close to major transport and attractions on the European side, and I could get back for an afternoon nap after going out. The room was a decent size, but my late December loft room was incredibly warm. It had only a skylight, and I couldn’t work out how to open it. The gym is a nice amenity, but it’s tiny. Four people in there made it feel crowded, with everyone squeezing around each other and competing for equipment. I also didn’t notice a water dispenser or wipes and sanitizer, so I wasn’t sure the equipment was being cleaned properly. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality, but I wish it were possible to opt out and have the cost removed from the room charge. Having paid for it made me feel I’d be wasting money if I went out to try a Turkish breakfast. The hotel’s restaurant was apparently featured in the Michelin Guide, but it only offers a multi-course tasting menu, at a very high price for a place without much of a view. I’m not sure I’d stay here again. I did learn that the area is excellent and has plenty of other hotels.

The 24-hour reception was always friendly, helpful, and discreet, and the staff throughout were courteous and kind. It felt like being welcomed into a family, almost like home. The hotel is beautifully kept, with stylish rooms, great room service, and a superb breakfast. There’s a real sense of tradition, warmth, attentiveness, understanding, and professionalism here. I’d give it at least 12 out of 10, and it’s somewhere I’d gladly return to.

The room was quiet, and I found the bed super comfortable. There’s no traffic allowed on the street, so it’s peaceful despite being in busy Istanbul, and I couldn’t hear the neighboring rooms through the walls. Ask for a room with a good view, since some have none. The staff were very nice, and you can refill the glass water bottle they provide or get ice from the bar downstairs. The rooms are starting to look a bit tired and could be cleaner.

The area around the Régie Ottoman is fun and easy to explore, and the location worked perfectly for us. Our room was small but comfortable, with a nice view. The staff were fantastic. The person who checked us in suggested I call him “George,” since he thought I probably couldn’t pronounce his Turkish name. He was really helpful with our questions and restaurant suggestions. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh eggs, omelettes, and Turkish menemen, plus cappuccinos, lattes, other espresso drinks, and regular coffee. The hotel arranged our airport transfers and sent clear directions with pictures and even a video, which helped a lot after a long travel day. My one change would be the firm mattress. It was uncomfortable at first, though we got used to it and it didn’t spoil the stay. Pillow tops could be an easy option for guests who prefer a softer bed. We’d definitely stay here again.
