Seven Days Suites - İstanbul

I walked in to dirty floors, stained sheets, and a foul smell everywhere. The place was filthy, and the lift wasn’t working. Nobody had warned guests, and I had to haul my luggage up several floors without any help. The staff were shockingly rude and didn’t care about my complaints. There was no basic courtesy, service, or hygiene. One of the worst stays I’ve had. Save yourself the frustration. This hotel is a disgrace and isn’t worth a single star.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I’m speaking up for other people’s safety. The room smelled of mould as soon as I checked in. When I tried to rest, the smell triggered my very mild asthma. I went to the desk to ask for a different room, and they said, “this is the first we’ve heard anyone tell us this.” A quick look at other Google reviews suggests otherwise. When I said I was sure it wasn’t the first time, they asked why I hadn’t checked the reviews before staying. I hadn’t checked Google, and the hotel had a high rating on booking.com. It was upsetting to hear them acknowledge their own failure as a hotel, and worse that they didn’t seem to care about putting people’s health at risk.

Breakfast was included in the booking, and the rooms have sea views. The staff were very helpful, friendly, polite, and supportive. The location is excellent, within walking distance of Saultanahmet Square, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. I’d definitely stay again.

We had to find another hotel after they refused our request for a partial refund. Even though we kept the booking, after just one day they sold our room again, blocked our access cards, and claimed we’d checked out, which wasn’t true. They argued that double bookings can’t happen in Turkey because passports are scanned. That isn’t true. At reception, they also keep fish in a filthy little tank where the fish can barely move. We were first put in a “deluxe” room for two nights because of overbooking, even though we’d booked a budget room. The sheets were dirty, the bathroom was covered in mold, and the toilet seat was broken. Then they moved us to the budget room we’d originally booked, which is in the basement as described. It’s under the hotel stairs, so you hear guests stomping overhead all night. The tiny window is at street level, where people sit and smoke, so it’s noisy all the time. The curtain doesn’t cover the window properly, and car headlights shine into the room. It was hot and musty inside, the AC smelled terrible, and the moldy bathroom had no ventilation. Staying there felt unsafe and unhealthy. The hotel is very unclean and books your room to other guests while you still have a reservation. Avoid it, including the “deluxe” rooms. It’s absolutely not worth it.
