Taxim Hill Hotel

The breakfast was very good, and the view was lovely. A few more kinds of cheese and fresh juice would have been nice. The room had the usual equipment and they left a bottle of water each day, but the heater wasn’t working. They said they’d fix it and offered an electric one. The location is a 10/10, opposite Taksim Midan and just minutes from the M2 metro, tram via F1 or down the hill, bus stops, İstiklal street and the Galata tower. Staff were friendly and accommodating, maybe a little too friendly for some. Cleanliness gets a 6/10 from me since it seemed to vary by floor, as if some cleaners did a better job than others. For a 4 star hotel, it should be much better.

The best thing about Taxim Hill Hotel is how close it is to everything. It’s right next to Taksim Square, with restaurants, shops, and public transport close by. The staff were polite and quick to respond, and the breakfast was decent, about 3.5 out of 5. I was traveling alone, without my family. For the price and location, I think it’s reasonable value, but don’t expect a luxury 5-star stay or even a particularly strong 4-star one. The hotel feels old. Some bathroom facilities look renovated, while the corridors, carpets, and reception still seem quite dated.

Breakfast was the one acceptable part of my stay, though it wasn’t enough to make up for the rest. The room air also bothered me, causing sensitivity, sneezing, and a runny nose. I picked the hotel for its closeness to Taksim Square, but getting in was already difficult because there were several stairs at the entrance and I struggled with my luggage. At reception, two men were impatient and unprofessional, which made a poor first impression. The bathroom floor was dirty when we arrived, and even after I asked for cleaning the next day, it was still dirty and the room hadn’t been fully cleaned.

The location is the only good thing here. The hotel is old and hasn’t been renovated. There’s poor lighting, the bathroom vent doesn’t work, and a chimney right outside the window blows smoke and makes noise. Cleanliness is below average and the food is very basic.
