The Biancho Hotel Old City

Breakfast was the same each morning, with limited choices mixing Turkish and English styles, so good luck with that. The location is convenient for reaching the city’s famous sights. Rooms were clean, but the furniture looked a bit old. It wasn’t the best, though it did the job for a night.

The breakfast tasted good, though there was no juice. Service was kind and very good, and the room was amazing. It’s a beautiful hotel in the old city, and even the sheets smelled so clean.

I can’t recommend this hotel to Russian tourists. They cancelled our booking eight hours before arrival without a clear reason, and the way it was handled felt unfriendly toward Russians. I’d booked three weeks ahead through a booking service, choosing free cancellation and payment on arrival. The terms also said a two-night charge applied if cancelling within two days of arrival. A week before the trip, I contacted the hotel to explain that we were travelling from Russia and couldn’t prepay by credit card. Someone told me, “No problems, madam,” and said we could pay in USD when we arrived. I accepted that and looked forward to our 28 July trip. On 28 July, I got a notice saying my card was invalid and the reservation would be cancelled. I called the hotel twice. The person I was told was “the boss” said no. I reminded them we’d discussed the issue and agreed on payment at the hotel. We were on our way to the airport and due in Istanbul a few hours later, and I begged them to reconsider. The answer was that they were suffering from Russians who book and don’t come, and that two unpaid bookings had been lost the day before. Friends, no pains, no gains. If you don’t want to take that risk, please don’t offer both “No cancellation fee” and “No credit card required.”

The location is really good, and the staff were excellent and very friendly. I especially want to thank Mr. Mehmet, who helped sort out my problems at night and showed us a lot of attention. A hotel I’d recommend. 👌
