Tilas House No8 - Hostel

The location made it easy for us to explore. Everything we needed was a 5-7 minute walk away, including the ferry terminal, restaurants, cafes, and markets. The house and room were beautiful, and we had the biggest room at the top. It was spacious, clean, and decorated with an old school feel that I liked. The balcony and surroundings felt romantic for a couple to have a glass of wine and relax. The kitchen was well equipped, though you'll need to bring your own toiletries. There was no lift, so you have to carry luggage upstairs, but the host helped us and I didn't mind because I like the exercise. The room isn't completely soundproof, which could be an issue for some couples planning late night activities. The hosts were the best part of our stay. They waited for us when traffic delayed our car and we arrived late, helped with our bags, and gave good recommendations for restaurants, souvenirs, and attractions. We could reach out whenever we needed support, and their English and communication were very good. We would definitely return one day.

Emre and Tubah made our Istanbul trip feel so welcoming. The rooms and shared spaces were extremely clean and organized, and the shared kitchen was clean and well stocked. Tilas House is in a quiet part of Kadikoy, a short walk from the ferry station, M4 subway station, and Moda. I'd gladly stay with Emre and Tubah again on my next Istanbul trip.

The building's historic structure means you can clearly hear noise from outside the room. Still, it had a real feel like home and was good value. The neighborhood is tourist friendly and feels safe, and the location is great. I enjoyed my stay, and Emre and his wife were sweet, welcoming hosts who took good care of their guests. There were lots of restaurants nearby, and both the tourist area and the ferry were close. The building has no soundproofing, but that's expected in a historic place and was fine with us. This has been our best guesthouse stay in Istanbul so far. The place is beautiful and authentic, with a wonderful bed, lovely styling, a kitchen, and even laundry. We'll definitely be back.
