West Istanbul Hostel

The room was spotless and the beds were comfy. The owners gave us useful directions to good breakfast places and the quickest way to the pretty sights, all within walking distance. With reception open 24 hours, arriving very early in the morning and leaving in the middle of the night was easy.

Yusuf and Samet made a long layover in Istanbul much easier. They were patient and helpful when I got caught up in a taxi overcharging situation, and suggested using their taxi service, which seems simpler in the end. The hostel is about a 10-minute walk from the main sights. I’m grateful for their help and hope to come back and stay longer.

The receptionist was welcoming and kept checking how he could help. He was just beginning to learn English, but we managed to communicate without trouble. The rooms are simple, with lovely decor, and guests can’t eat in them. There’s a small shared basement kitchen with a stove and fridge. The place is cute and handy for touring the old city. The neighborhood isn’t fancy, especially at night, though I felt safe and thought the price was reasonable.

The rooms didn’t feel crowded, and everyone was friendly. It was the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in, with kind, helpful staff and a great location. I’d recommend it to anyone.
