Met Boutique Hotel - Boutique Class

The staff at The Met were kind, efficient, and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of choices: tasty juices, cereal, olives, bread, spreads, tomatoes, and eggs cooked to order. There was no milk with the cereal, though maybe I could have asked. My room was clean and had enough space, and the location was handy, about an eight minute walk to shopping and restaurants and twelve minutes to the seaside pedestrian walkway. I felt safe walking at night as a woman in my sixties. I also drove to Ephesus on two different days, about an hour away, since there’s so much to see there. The main difficulty for me was temperature. The hotel was set to 24 C, and at least during my mid-March visit there was no control for the individual rooms. The thermostat didn’t work. I couldn’t sleep well, choosing between an open window with street noise, light, and fresh air, or a closed window and a warmer, quieter room. I need a cool room to sleep, so that wasn’t good for me. Parking was stressful. There’s no hotel space for check-in, but I found a spot, parallel parked, and handed the keys to a quick, attentive staff member who parked the car. On other days, there happened to be easy parking out front. Staying in the middle of a very busy city has its tradeoffs. It was a nice stay with pros and cons.

The location is one of the best parts: Met Boutique Hotel is in central Izmir, within walking distance of Kemeraltı Bazaar, Konak Square, the seafront, shops, restaurants, and cafes. The breakfast was generous, with fresh Turkish and international options, and there’s a café/bar area for a drink after sightseeing. Wi-Fi worked throughout the hotel, though it was a little slow. They also offer airport transfers and other services. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well equipped, with comfortable beds, good linens, and a well-kept bathroom. The modern design has some Turkish charm, and the whole place felt welcoming. Staff were friendly and attentive, helping with recommendations for places to see, eat, and visit. Service from arrival onward felt focused on guest comfort. For the price, I found it a comfortable, convenient choice for business or leisure.

This was our fourth time at Met Hotel, and being welcomed there already feels like coming home. The team is friendly and supportive whether you speak Turkish, German, or English. Breakfast is outstanding, and the service with it is excellent. Thanks, we’re already looking forward to our next trip to Izmir.

Met is clean and attractive, with large, comfortable rooms and very friendly, helpful staff. It’s in a good part of Izmir, though a few blocks away from most of the action. There are plenty of hotels around, and you could find something similar that’s probably better located. Still, there’s nothing wrong with the Met.
