Tree House Otel

The view was very good, and getting there by car was easy. Staff were attentive and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner were good quality compared with the other places in the bay.

For what we paid, the service didn’t come close to being worth it. The owner had said we’d get a better price by booking directly instead of online, but we saved only about 2 euros a night. We paid some of the bill in cash and got no receipt for that part, only for what we paid by card. We also would have stayed a few more nights, but left because of the constant noise. Music played all day and night in the restaurant and pool area, and we could hear it clearly on the terrace and inside our room. I like music, but hearing it around the clock became a nightmare and made a calm, private atmosphere impossible, even at night. I complained several times. Sometimes they turned it down, but it would get loud again. On two nights I went down to the restaurant at midnight to ask them to stop it, even though nobody was there to listen. If I’m paying a lot to stay somewhere, I want to choose whether I hear music. The place might be nice if they stopped playing it constantly, but not for 120-140 euros a night. There were some good things. The room was clean and nice when we arrived, the air conditioning worked well, and the panorama was splendid from a sea-view room. Some staff were very friendly, and the kitchen staff deserve thanks. The dinner was nearly identical each day. It might be fine for 2-3 nights, but after that it felt like prison. Breakfast was a joke, with tiny portions. We’d have been better off going down to the beach to enjoy the sunrise than waiting for it. The refrigerator in our room didn’t work, and there was no soap when we arrived. We had to ask for soap the next day. Humidity had swollen the bathroom door, so it took real strength to close and made a lot of noise. Nobody came to clean or change the towels until we asked on day three. They showed up on the evening of day four, just before we left. Then we were told that cleaning was supposed to happen only if we asked for it. Why hadn’t anyone told us that when we arrived? We left our things, including books, on chairs by the pool for half an hour. Someone came to wash the area by throwing water around, and our belongings got damaged. At first we were told Wi-Fi worked only in the common areas, not the rooms. Even in the common area the connection was poor. After a couple of days, we complained to the owner and got another connection, which worked in the rooms as well as the common area.

The room was clean and the AC worked fine, but the rest of the stay was disappointing. Getting from the room to the common area meant going up and down steep paths, and the hotel is quite far from the beach. Walking back involves a steep hill. The meals were mediocre and not tasty, with a repetitive menu and few choices for vegetarian or vegan guests. I’d read earlier reviews about people getting food poisoning, so I avoided the salad too. I arrived for breakfast half an hour before closing and found nothing left. I had to keep asking staff to refill it. Wi-Fi wasn’t available in the rooms, and the connection in the common area was weak. I also saw the owners keep a dog on a very short leash all day without accessible water.

The rooms had a nice terrace and comfortable beds, with AC, a minibar, hot water, and a decent level of cleaning. We’d booked and paid for a room for two but were given one for three, which was a nice gesture. The rooms sit among nature, and the atmosphere there is calm. The pool was clean with lukewarm water, and there’s a nice bay view. The yoga and relaxation spaces were pleasant, though not very well kept. Even with those good points, we left disappointed and wouldn’t return to Tree Houses. It’s a long, steep walk from the beach, and getting between the rooms and the restaurant or pool is awkward. There’s no Wi-Fi in the rooms; the common-area connection dropped often and didn’t reach well. The food was a letdown, especially for vegetarians and vegans. One morning we got there half an hour before breakfast ended and almost everything was gone. Staff didn’t refill it until we’d asked three different people, and then we finally got tea and yogurt. Service felt unprofessional. The place seems to be run by a family, and it was hard to tell who was family, who worked there, or even to distinguish staff from guests. Some staff dressed as if they were heading to the beach and didn’t pay much attention to guests. The common areas weren’t very clean. The shared bathroom was often dirty and out of toilet paper. The decorations felt tacky, and the music was sometimes too loud, with more of a party feel than a relaxing one. The owners kept their dog tied to a pole on a short leash all the time. She looked thirsty and depressed, stuck in one garden spot all day with little shade and nothing to do. We gave her water one morning, and she drank as if she hadn’t had any in a long time. There’s potential here, but the service let us down.
