The owners were kind and welcoming, and the flower-filled terrace was pleasant. The location worked well for Patara Beach and the town center, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was included, and at about €50 per night, the price was attractive. The place itself was very old and poorly maintained. Our room was tiny, dated, and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was extremely loud and seemed not to have been cleaned in years, which made sleeping difficult. The lack of upkeep was both visible and audible. Cleanliness was a major problem. The floors were visibly dirty, and hygiene was far below what we expected. The sheets and towels looked past their best, yellowish instead of white. There were also huge numbers of mosquitoes inside despite the window screens. The bathroom setup didn’t work well. There’s no window or shower curtain, so after showering the toilet, toilet paper, and much of the bathroom were soaked, and the humidity stayed trapped. Parking is available but isn’t secured. Even with friendly owners and a reasonable price, the dirty, run-down rooms and uncomfortable nights mean we wouldn’t stay here again.

We had a good stay at Eucalyptus Pension while hiking the Lycian Way in April. It’s centrally located in Patara, generally quiet, and our room was clean. The hosts were very friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast was simple, tasty, and traditional Turkish style. They even let us do laundry and dry our clothes, and brought us extra clothespins, which we really appreciated. The property is starting to show its age, though they had already started renovating the patio while we were there. The local roosters were another small issue, as they tend to start crowing around 4 a.m. A pleasant, welcoming place, especially for hikers.

The power cuts in town seem to be part of the area, and the hot water here comes only from solar heating, as is common in small-town pensions. Those were good to know, but they didn't take away from the stay. It was great value for the time and location, and probably the most homely place I stayed on my trip. I also learned a lot about Turkey. Breakfast was amazing, especially her homemade orange jam. Nebahad and her family worked hard to make me feel at home, always ready with help and a welcome tea or coffee when I came back tired.

The garden was so peaceful, full of flowers, and the place was clean. We spent four days at eucalyptus Hotel and really enjoyed ourselves. Breakfast was delicious, and the family who own it, along with dear Mohammed, were kind, generous, and funny. We'd happily come back one day! 😊
