It was absolutely awful. My wife, daughter, and I stayed there, and my whole body is covered in blisters and dry skin. We regret going. I’ve never seen a hotel this filthy in my life. Don’t go there.

We only stayed because we couldn’t find a hotel in Mardin. If you have a choice, you’d be better off staying in your car. The bed and sofa bed sagged and creaked so badly they were unusable, the toilet was very dirty, and the pillows and sheets smelled awful. There were nails and dowels inside the mattress. Paying 3000 lira for this service was upsetting. The staff at the entrance were polite, so I’m giving an extra star for that.

Because of the holiday, we couldn’t find anywhere else to stay in Mardin, so I reluctantly booked this place. The mix of very positive and very negative comments had made me apprehensive. I’m writing for others who might be just as unsure, and I hope the owner will address these problems. He was kind, and when I mentioned being worried about the sheets, he changed them and had the room cleaned. But the cleaning was very superficial. There was hair on the floor, the sink was dirty, and there were dirty fingerprints on the fridge and front door. The bathroom was very old, the toilet paper holder was moldy, and the mirror was attached to the wall with packing tape. There was no hot water when I went to wash my hair, and the water stopped while I was brushing my teeth. I was thankful there wasn’t hot water, or I’d have been stuck with that hair. There was no toilet paper either. They seemed to expect guests to use the paper towels in the bathroom for both purposes. Instead of hand soap, there were two of those small hotel shampoo dispensers. Shoes aren’t allowed in the room, but no slippers were provided. Luckily, we had our own, because I wouldn’t have wanted to walk on those floors in my socks. I paid 500 TL for a room listed on sahibinden.com at 200 TL, with the increase due to the holiday rush. It might be acceptable if they took better care with room cleanliness and hygiene, replaced old items like the moldy holder, provided essentials such as soap, toilet paper, and disposable slippers, and charged a price that matched the service. The next day, we stayed at a 5-star hotel in Konya for 780 TL for three people with breakfast. As it is, this place is only worth considering if the alternative is sleeping on the street.

The reception staff were very helpful, and the apartment had everything we needed. It’s a nice new building, about 4-5 km from the hilltop. We stayed because we couldn’t find accommodation in Old Mardin during our Eastern Turkey tour. It was very comfortable for 5 people at 220 TL, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The building is new, but don’t be fooled by the exterior. The apartment was so dirty and rundown, and the furniture looked secondhand. We’d planned to stay two nights, but the hygiene is spotless. I’ve never stayed in such a dirty place. Looking at the comments, it’s obvious the apartment owner’s relatives wrote them. I definitely don’t recommend it. You can find cleaner places for this price. It’s not worth the money.
