Dergah Hotel

After hearing my complaints through the front office, the manager, Izzet Atasağun, offered 500tl back and said that was all he could do, and I could leave if I didn’t like it. It felt like he was handing out charity. I was traveling with two young kids, and after hours of room changes they were exhausted and had fallen asleep. He showed no understanding and didn’t offer a personal apology. The refund was another ordeal that took hours. A woman on the phone helping the front office blamed me for using two cards, and I had to show my bank account to prove the issue wasn’t on my end. We’d booked a double room with connecting doors, four beds and two bathrooms, but the first room reeked of grilled meat. Reception clearly knew about it. They said the restaurant next door was responsible, which upset me. Why sell a room that smells like a barbecue without telling guests? We asked to move and got an even worse room: the AC wasn’t working in 38 celcius heat, and seemed more like a loud ventilation system blowing warm air. The curtains wouldn’t close properly, and instead of four beds and two bathrooms we got one bathroom, one double bed, and two hard portable guest beds. The hotel’s electricity is extremely poor. The halls had no lights and smelled like toilets. Every single 1-star Google review is true. This dirty, old, smelly hotel feels extremely unhealthy. I can’t understand how it has four stars, and I’ll make sure ‘konya il kültür ve turizm müdürlüğü’ hears about it.

The staff were polite and kind, and did their best to make us feel welcome. The room was clean and comfortable, with new furniture and a nice view. It’s in a good spot, close to what you need. I’ve stayed here twice and would come back again. Thanks to the whole team.

The hotel is very close to the center and the rooms are in good condition. Breakfast was the weak point: they served salad left over from dinner, and some eggs seemed to be from the day before. I’m sure you can find somewhere better.

A reasonably priced place in the city center, with clean rooms and courteous staff. It’s especially handy if you’re visiting Mevlana regularly: you can see the shrine from your window, and it’s only a two-minute walk away. Good restaurants and shops are close by too. For budget accommodation near Mevlana Rumin Dergah, this is the best hotel I’ve found in Konya.
