Konak Hotel

The location is great, and the reception staff have a good attitude. The bed cover and sheet need replacing, though, since they have lots of holes. Also, they shouldn’t work with Tunahan from Keleş Turizm again. He’s dishonest, in my view. He puts photos of the hotel room on his airbnb account and acts like he owns it, trying to make extra money from both the hotel and its guests. That could damage the hotel’s image.

My stay was frustrating because of the money I lost. I booked through Airbnb and dealt with a host called Tanhan, who sold me tickets for the Mevlana twirling dance at 1000 lira per person. At the venue, I found they were actually 100 lira each. When I raised this with Tanhan, he wouldn’t admit he’d done anything wrong or refund the extra charge. I also accidentally paid him another 200 lira, which made it even more upsetting once I learned the real ticket price. His Airbnb account has since been closed, so I’m sharing this to warn others. Be cautious.

The breakfast was a plate of mezze, an egg, bread, olives, cucumber and tomato, plus tea. We stayed one night, and everything matched the photos. The rooms are old-fashioned but clean and quite spacious, with a TV, refrigerator, towels, toiletries, slippers, and an en suite shower. The plumbing is worn, though it all worked. Good value for the money. The photo is of the double room next door, which we snapped on our way out. We were so tired from walking around that we forgot to photograph our own room when we checked in.

We booked just for the night, and it worked well for a short stay. Its main advantage is being close to the Mevlana Museum. The hotel is a bit old, but it was reasonably clean and tidy.
