Umut Bakis Hotel

I regret staying here with my family. We had no real choice that night while traveling, but nobody should have to put up with what we did. Within about 90 minutes of lying down, I was bitten several times by what I believe were bedbugs. The mattress looked stained and smelled foul, and the pillows and linens seemed as if they had been used for multiple guests without washing. I had to layer my clothes to avoid touching the bedding. The room and building were filthy. There was grime in every corner, dust and dirt coming from the vents, and a sour smell throughout the walls, fabric, and air. I tried to upload photos showing the bites, stained furniture, and dirt, but the system wouldn’t process them. This was the worst hospitality experience I’ve had and felt like a threat to my health. I can’t understand how this place is allowed to call itself a hotel or keep accepting guests. Hotels.com shouldn’t list it, and I believe local health authorities and the tourism ministry should investigate. I consider the conditions a clear health and safety violation, and its license should be revoked. Avoid it, whatever the low rate.

There was barely anything ready for breakfast at 9:00, almost as if they expected guests to give up and leave early. Cigarette smoke kept coming into the room from somewhere and bothered me. The sheets were torn, and there was nowhere to put things. In the bathroom, the toilet bowl and the rest of the space were dirty, the toilet brush was broken, and a leaking pipe let sink water run across the floor. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I try to be fair in reviews, but this place was honestly the worst. I could maybe accept it if it were extremely cheap, but today I’m paying the same price for a very nice hotel. Don’t stay here.

The blankets all had cigarette burns, and the bathroom couldn’t be used. We paid 600 TL for a room smaller than a hostel room, so even as a cheap place to sleep it wasn’t worth it.
