I’ve spent 25 years traveling around Türkiye for work and staying in hotels, and I’ve never come across one this neglected, dirty, and indifferent. It’s completely unacceptable for Konya. Someone said sleeping on the street would be cleaner, and honestly, they were right. The room smelled awful when we arrived. The toilet still had the previous guest’s urine in it, and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, with hair everywhere. The shower hose and soap dispenser were broken. The TV didn’t work, there was no air conditioning or fan, the sheets were in terrible shape, the beds had cigarette burns, and the pillows smelled. Most concerning, the door lock wouldn’t lock. I brought my family and was in a difficult spot with nowhere else to stay, so we stayed, but I wouldn’t even walk down this street again. We didn’t go into the restaurant; if the hotel is this dirty, who knows what it’s like? The billing was another mess, and I was forced to issue an invoice. There’s plenty more I could say. This is no way to run a business. I think the Ministry of Culture and Tourism should carry out surprise checks on all of them.
