Olympos Mitos

The grounds are spacious, with chickens and goats wandering around, wooden-house rooms, a pool, and the option to bring animals. My kids were interested in all of that, and they liked the food too. It was tasty and fairly ordinary, with limited choice. I liked the hotel and it was what I expected, though it isn’t luxurious. I’d wanted a room on the entrance floor, but was told none were left, or perhaps they just didn’t want to give us one, I’m not sure. We ended up on the first floor, which would be the second floor in Russian counting. The lockdown was frustrating: there were lots of cafes nearby, but they were closed, and we couldn’t go for a walk by the sea. I also really disliked some guests from Georgia, who behaved rudely and had no manners. The hotel brings in whoever it wants without explaining how to behave in shared spaces, which reflects badly on it. And selling alcohol at the buffet is another drawback. If this is presented as a family holiday place for children, alcohol should be completely banned throughout the property.

I spent three nights there. The new operators seemed inexperienced, and the service suffered: nobody picked up the trash outside our door and the room was never cleaned. My kids and I also saw the operators sitting by the pool, talking loudly and sometimes swearing. Poor service.

The animals were a big reason for the three stars: cats, dogs, turkeys, and chickens roam freely, and I truly appreciate how much they care about them. The setting is wonderful, but the business seemed to be running at maybe 20% capacity. We got the impression the owner was worn out and made us feel it quite a lot. From somewhere offering a yoga camp atmosphere, I expected more willingness to compromise. We saw that the owner is a good person at heart, but they seriously need a holiday. Their sibling came to help, and we managed to reach an agreement on a few things we’d disagreed about. Be aware that extras are priced in euros. That’s their business and their choice, but they could have told us earlier. Hearing about it on the last day put a damper on things.

We had to add another night because we couldn’t find a different hotel, so we called management to pay for it. As we were leaving, an employee told us we hadn’t paid the previous day and that the boss didn’t remember receiving the money. Fortunately, we’d paid by card. I expect they’ll be angry with me for writing this, but I hope they take the criticism well, change how they manage things, and stop being such a mediocre hotel, especially when there were only four rooms occupied during the holiday season. The property may look beautiful, but management can ruin that. This place seems close to bankruptcy. Given its location, breakfast at 200 TL per person is absolutely not justified. And we’re customers. The owner, in particular, has no manners.
