Gazipasa Star Otel

The beach was very nice, with lots to do, and the private bus takes about six minutes to get there. Bars and shops are only a two-minute walk away, while the old town is five minutes by taxi. It's an easygoing place where the staff are good and nothing seems too much trouble. Rooms are cleaned daily and the food is good. A few rooms could use a little TLC, but everything was good for us.

A quiet, lovely hotel not far from town, with a bus service to the beach. The food and bar staff were very helpful, and prices were reasonable compared with nearby options.

I've travelled widely, including to Muslim countries such as Cairo, but have never had an experience like this. I left feeling discriminated against and financially exploited. At reception, I was asked where my husband was as soon as I arrived. I'm a single mother, and the question felt intrusive and irrelevant. It left me feeling that I wasn't respected as a guest. The worst incident happened at a foam party in the pool. My four-year-old daughter wanted to join in, and, having forgotten her swimsuit, went in nude. The thick foam completely covered her. I understand and respect the hotel's rules, but the way I was approached was deeply offensive. Another German-Turkish guest accused me of drinking alcohol, said my child's nudity would sexually arouse other men, and told me to "go back to my country" if I couldn't respect the rules. She was standing there half-naked in a bikini while making those demands, which felt especially hypocritical and insulting. I was shocked by the xenophobic remarks. Pool staff later explained the official rules, and I respected them, but that didn't undo the feeling of discrimination. I find it unacceptable that such personal attacks weren't stopped. The tours we booked also left me with a bad impression. I felt constantly pressured to spend money instead of being shown the culture and landscape I was eager to experience. It made me feel like nothing more than a financial transaction, and I couldn't relax or enjoy the country's rich heritage. These incidents badly affected our vacation. A country I had been open to and interested in was presented in a way that made me feel unwelcome, disrespected and exploited. Respectful treatment should be a priority. I can't recommend this hotel, and these experiences mean I won't travel to Turkey again.

Once you arrive, the area may not look promising, but you soon see there's plenty nearby, including shops and cafes. The hotel is family-run, good value and reasonably priced. The staff are fantastic, friendly and the rooms have been refurbished and are in good condition. There's a beach shuttle in the morning and late afternoon, though the pool is also good enough to spend the day by. I've stayed twice and would come back without hesitation.
