Hotel Defne Star

We went with our 6-year-old child in the last week of August and were generally quite satisfied. The low buildings are spread among gardens, which felt pleasant compared with huge hotel complexes. The grounds cover a large stretch of beach, and we never struggled to find sunbeds, even in the front rows. The food selection is impressive. On the first day, you’re assigned a table for the whole stay. Waitstaff bring drinks during meals, which I found less convenient than serving yourself, but by the end they knew our usual orders, which was a nice personal touch. Our child loved the water slides. They’re only open for an hour and a half in the morning and again in the afternoon, and that worked well for us. There’s a pleasant promenade toward Side, about 2 km away, with lots of shopping nearby in the other direction from the beach. I’d recommend the hotel. We were happy there, though it isn’t extraordinary luxury, just a comfortable and enjoyable place for families.

We’ve been here three times already, and now we’re planning a fourth holiday, this time bringing our family. We’ve always been pleased with the accommodation and services. There’s lots of food and drink to choose from, and the rooms are nice and clean, with big, comfortable beds. The gardens and beach are amazing. It feels safe and family-friendly, a week of peace and comfort that I’d highly recommend. 😍😍😍

The beach was the best part. The rooms are okay, but the bathroom feels like 3*, not 4*. All-inclusive is very limited: ice cream is offered only twice a week for 1 and half hour, and whoever gets there first gets it, lastsnot 😀 The restaurant felt like an early 2000s canteen, with food queues, old furniture, and dirty tablecloths. The pool is big, but crowded with children jumping in and out of the water, and there’s no chance of getting a sunbed. The pool bar drink menu is very poor. The hotel needs to improve its cleaning and climatisation, among other things, to reach the 21st century. It’s not really a 4* hotel, and it’s for families with children.

The beach is easy to reach, just behind the complex walls, and the place itself is nice and clean. The service felt aimed at German and Austrian guests: the program and activities were only in German, and staff were friendly but had limited language skills. Drinks and the overall offering were very low quality.
