Miramare Queen Hotel - All Inclusive

This five-star stay at Maramare Queen was miserable. The rooms were stifling without working air conditioning, sewage smells drifted around depending on the wind, the buffet was bland and repetitive, and I experienced daily food poisoning. Hospital trips cost a fortune. It felt like a vacation from hell. The central air conditioning depends on management, and after October 30th it is switched off. The suggested fix is to open the balcony door, which brings in mosquitoes. There was loud, low-frequency music from the hotel until 11 PM, and neighboring hotels carried on until 1 AM. In 21 days, I heard just one playlist I liked. The place also felt like one giant ashtray, with guests smoking everywhere, including in supposed smoke-free areas. The food service often felt like a ghost story, with staff hard to find when needed. Fresh juice and drip coffee were the only things unavailable from the buffet, but they could be hard to get. The buffet itself offered the same dull dishes repeatedly, and the coffee was powdered. Morning drip coffee and fresh juice were the only highlights, until they disappeared entirely in November. Beer was watered down unless you watched each pour. Beach loungers were scarce, so getting one meant competing with other guests. The water near the swimming area was made unpleasantly cold by a river outlet. Valuables could disappear from the beach, and guards shrugged when it happened, while the hotel did nothing. Fishermen ignoring swimming-zone rules were another issue, and the hotel and police might handle it, maybe. English was hard to get by with, unless you spoke German or Turkish. Russian was a little more useful, but not much. The Wi-Fi struggled with even basic browsing in low season. On top of that, domestic flights between Antalya and Istanbul seemed like a lottery: even with a boarding pass, arriving late could mean being bumped. Guests routinely ended up at hospital, paying €350 per person plus €40 for a taxi. One German family on an all-inclusive trip went straight to the ER. The hotel offered no support and wanted €2 for a call to the hospital landline, or you were held up at checkout. I raised my concerns with reception and guest relations. They barely reacted, basically saying my stuff was my problem. And the kitchen may be ISO-certified, but that didn't make the food hygiene feel safe. I got bacteria, not a virus, and needed antibiotics from the nearest hospital. They could spend less time polishing their replies and more time cleaning.

We arrived around 22:00 and were made to feel welcome straight away by the receptionist, even though they spoke little English. The whole hotel and our comfortable room were very clean. Gokhan and Tito from the entertainment team greeted us by the pool on day one, and without those two we wouldn't have had nearly as much fun. Everyone, staff and guests alike, was friendly and accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble. It was five-star service throughout. The in-house photography team were very professional, though I thought they were expensive. If you're coming from the UK, I'd bring euros and not much lira since most things are priced in euros. I assume that's down to exchange rates and the resort mainly catering to the European market. Thanks for a wonderful holiday 😁

The four pools aren't heated, though the good weather warmed them up a bit during our April visit. There were plenty of loungers by the pool and at the private beach, just a two-minute walk away. The menu had variety, and the hotel was very clean and tidy. Most of the staff were excellent and polite. Reception was the exception, as their very limited English meant they weren't as helpful as they could have been. Entertainment was quite limited while we were there, although they were building a large outdoor stage, so it may improve later in the season.

We'd gladly choose this hotel for our next holiday. It's near a bazaar and has good connections to Alanya, Manavgat, and even Antalya. The service staff were especially friendly and helpful, and most spoke German and English. Our room was clean, the food was great, and there were lots of activities. We had a great stay.
