Selge Hotel Side

We had a pretty good two-night stay, but I wouldn't want to stay much longer. The beach is nearby, around 1.5km on foot, or about five minutes by car and 15 minutes walking. The pool was quite clean and about the same temperature as the sea. There were lots of outdoor cats around, but they left us alone. The rooms were exceptionally clean, including the beds, tables, walls, and toilets, and staff cleaned them while we were out. The staff were friendly too. Both bedside outlets in our rooms were broken. Wi-Fi was only available in the bar and was fairly fast at 5mb/s, though it cut out every 5-10 minutes for 2-4 minutes, which was annoying. They called it all-inclusive, but we only got breakfast and dinner, and had to pay for drinks like water, tea, and coffee after 12pm. The food was okay, though some of us chose restaurants instead. I'd give Hotel Selge 4/5 for a short stay, but wouldn't recommend it for a longer one.

I wouldn't stay again or recommend the place to friends. During my 2023 stay, the tall’ish man at reception was rude, and when I told him the extra-cost air conditioning was very weak, he didn't seem willing to help or refund the nights it barely worked. The massage guy was pushy and smelled strongly of smoke. The restaurant waiter kept bothering me, and breakfast had very few choices. There are bars, restaurants, and plenty of shops nearby, but the old town that people usually want to visit isn't within walking distance.

The pool was clean and lovely, and I spent plenty of sunny days lounging beside it. The hotel itself was quiet, safe, tidy, and friendly. Staff were always clearing glasses and wiping tables. The ladies did a great job keeping my clean, comfortable room in order during my two weeks there. Food was lovely, though a little repetitive. With covid there was no buffet, but there are lots of nearby places with cheap, tasty food if you don't like what's on offer. Breakfast was traditional Turkish food, and the Flying Horse a few buildings away does a lovely full English 😋. Staff were kind and tried to help, though their English wasn't great, so Google Translate came in handy 😉. There are shops nearby, and the beach is about a half-hour walk, or you can take a taxi for around 30 lira. There were about 3 cats around the grounds. I love cats, so I didn't mind them joining me for breakfast 😊. I'd definitely go again.

The good parts were the location, with shops and lovely places nearby, and the large, deep pool where it was nice to spend time. But the hotel should have been closed for renovation years ago. I've stayed in different hotels and don't expect a Hilton for 50 euros, but this is one of the worst I've had in that price category. Air conditioning costs extra, as the booking fine print says, but then the bed should cost extra too. Breakfast was so sparse it was hardly anything, though at least I stayed healthy. I got half a towel, and the bedding had holes, stains, and bobbles that made it hard to sleep. There was water inside the bathroom light, making it wobble and sometimes blink even when switched off. The furniture, like the air conditioner, was in poor condition.
