We were only planning to sleep overnight before our trip to Rhodes, but around 1 a.m. we woke to bedbugs crawling on the bed. We switched rooms because the toilet door wouldn't shut, but the door in the new room had the same problem. We ended up leaving at 1:15 a.m. instead of checking out at 7. Lesson learned: don't worry about the cost, especially if all you need is five hours of sleep.

Kadriye Hanım was rude and indiscreet from the moment I got to reception, speaking to me dismissively. They have a cash machine but won't take anything except cash. The room was neglected, dirty and full of bugs. There was no shampoo, and the towels had already been used. The bathroom had no windows, so it had no fresh air. There's a shared kitchen downstairs that everyone in the building uses, and the machines could be heard all night. On top of that, Kadriye Hanım's voice woke us early in the morning. I don't believe the place has a permit or pays taxes, and I'm going to file a complaint with the relevant authorities. Anyone with self-respect should stay away. You'd be better off sleeping on the street.

Don't go near it, let alone stay there. The owner is erratic and has no sense of either craftsmanship or basic humanity.

The towels and sheets were poor, and our attic room was stuffy. There were about 10 single people being accommodated illegally. The owner looked sour and seemed completely beaten down by life and the heat. He was so rude that when we asked for one breakfast for the children, he brought only water. Would I stay again? No.

It was awful. We couldn't stay the night because every bed was infested with bedbugs. Stay away.
