Sayar Apartments

We were a large family staying for 14 nights. The good points were the location and the nice pool, but we couldn't enjoy it because we felt watched and policed every time we moved. The family who own the hotel were unbelievably rude, and seemed to want only Turkish guests. Our children were repeatedly shouted at for doing the same things Turkish children did. It felt like clear favouritism towards Turkish guests. The rooms were filthy and horrendous, and getting them cleaned meant begging. The showers stayed freezing at any time of day, and the rooms felt dangerous. They washed blankets and rugs in a paddling pool for two days, attracting flies and mosquitoes. The slide was falling apart and ran for only five minutes at a time because the motor overheated. The woman at the cactus bar was the rudest person I've ever met. Her father constantly shouted at people and watched the children. If you buy their food, don't complain, and your kids barely speak above a whisper, you'll be fine. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here.

We're a family of four and had a fantastic time. The staff were polite, friendly and absolutely fantastic. We booked a three-star self-catering holiday and got what we paid for. The rooms are a bit old and dated, but they were fine for us since we were out all day and only used them to sleep. I've read some other reviews, and we're planning to come back next year with nine of us.

I would've given it zero stars if I could. The nightly rate was cheap, the pool area was okay, it's not far from the beach, and the staff were quite friendly. But the rooms had ants everywhere and mould throughout, especially in the bathroom. The shower was poor, and the sheets, curtains and sofa cushions were covered in stains of unknown origin. You also pay extra for air conditioning, a safe and toilet paper, and rooms are only cleaned every three or four days. I'd spend another £200 on the holiday. I'm sure Marmaris would be a much better experience.

Minus five stars. Be warned, the glass shower screen exploded while I was showering and seriously injured me, leaving cuts and glass splinters all over my body. Staff took our bags and wouldn't return them until we paid for it, though it wasn't my fault and I don't know how I could have caused it. The place is unsafe, and thankfully it was me who got hurt, not the children. I also fell down a flight of uneven, broken stairs and injured my hip, with a bruise about the size of an A4 page across my back. The electrics were unsafe, there was an ant infestation in the rooms and mould in the bathroom, and the bedding was dirty. You have to pay for toilet roll. Staff made direct racist comments, and dogs chained up outside barked all night.
