Green Peace Hotel

I’ve stayed at Greenpeace Hotel in Ovacik three times a year for the past four years. I’d kept quiet because it feels like a hidden gem, and selfishly I wanted it to stay unspoilt. It has a homely, welcoming feel, and I plan to return. The rooms are spotless. They’re cleaned daily, bins are emptied, and fresh tissues are left each day. Towels and bedding are changed every other day, more often than I change my bedding at home. Breakfast is plentiful, well prepared and presented, and typically Turkish. The current chef is the best I’ve seen here in four years, with a range of well-cooked dishes. Every area is kept clean and tidy. I thought two recent reviews were unfair, and wondered if they might have meant a different hotel. I was shown the bungalow that had been mentioned: it’s spacious, with a marble floor, a large double bed and a large single bed. There’s a kettle and fridge to use, free air conditioning and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. Trees outside shed leaves, but the outdoor areas are swept several times a day. I’ve never seen peeling paint, and maintenance seems to be done regularly. The management is good, and Adnan, the owner, is often around during the season. Cuneyit, the Manager, chooses the fresh food at the market each day. When he’s away, Barel at reception takes charge. I think the staff stay because they enjoy the atmosphere and the place where they work.

We were five people and had loads of room, including a very spacious bathroom. The top-floor ceiling was oddly low in places, though, and we bumped our heads a couple of times. Tall guests should watch out up there. There’s no elevator, but staff helped carry our luggage up. They didn’t help bring it back down when we left. We also paid extra for laundry, and it was done nicely and ready the next morning. We only stayed one night, but it was a lovely visit and felt more like a resort. The pool and breakfast seating area were great. Breakfast had tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, sausage, bread and spreads like jam, butter and hazelnut spread. There was no juice, but water, coffee and tea were available.

The owners were caring and sweet, and the breakfast was delicious. The pool was big and clean. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Ölüdeniz, and we’ll choose it again next time.

Breakfast was generous, and there’s a pool with loungers where you can relax. Parking is available, so it’s convenient if you’re driving. The hotel staff I met at reception and in the restaurant were incredibly warm and helpful, and I’m very grateful for that. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator, and watch your head if you’re on the top floor.
