Orka Cove Hotel Penthouse & Suites - Adults Only

We booked a penthouse suite for a fantastic two week stay at the Cove Hotel. It had a jacuzzi and a nice balcony facing the pool, with stunning views. The hotel is small and adults only, with just 16 huge rooms. Around the pool there are cabana beds for every room, plus a swim up bar. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, with fresh food and Turkish style options. You could also ask for omelettes or scrambled eggs. My wife and I will definitely return, and we'd recommend it for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

The poolside dinner was lovely, with a table looking out over the mountain and pool, but the service turned it into a frustrating evening. Our waiter brought the starters and mains together on a small table, never checked whether we wanted dessert, and by the time we found out the kitchen had closed, it was too late to order. Not much of a romantic dinner after all. The rooms themselves are clean, airy, modern, and tastefully decorated, with roomy beds. We liked the swim-up room, though the water was too cool to enjoy in the early morning or evening. Given the hotel’s mountain setting, warmer water at those times would make a big difference. The towels also felt old and overused, and there’s no hook by the shower to hang them. The pool and cabanas are beautiful and very clean, and the swim-up bar is a nice touch. But loud folkloric music played without guests asking for it, which really spoiled the pool atmosphere. Some staff also struggled to communicate in English, and the service didn’t feel suited to this level of hotel. It’s a lovely place for couples wanting quiet time together. Still, I wouldn’t return until the hotel sorts out some major problems. The operation feels poorly coordinated, staff may not be getting regular customer service training, and different parts of the hotel seem to work separately instead of in sync. It shows in the overall service and quality.

We found the location remote and quiet, and breakfast was okay. The cleaning was fine too, though our room sometimes hadn’t been made up by 2pm and we had to ask. You can hear a neighboring shower through the pipes, and the place could use some upkeep: paint is peeling, the pool loungers need fresh linens, and the pool food was mediocre. The staff were often unhelpful, and there was no manager around. They had to call someone for answers, which were frequently wrong. Nobody spoke English well enough to make things easier. We were given bad information about taxi fares and laundry. A small bag was said to cost 10-15€, but the bill came to 50€, which was outrageous. The airport transfer agency and laundry service they work with also struck us as scammers, and they were rude. This was the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had. It’s nowhere near deserving four stars, and I’d tell people to stay far away.

The staff were friendly and ready to help, and when our WiFi gave us trouble they did try to sort it out. Our room was excellent and cleaned well every day. There’s a restaurant on site with a decent range of food all day, and you can have it brought to your room. It wasn’t amazing, but the portions were generous, so we didn’t go hungry despite the secluded location. A taxi to town or the beach was usually 300lira (£7.50) one way, which we took most evenings for dinner. We wanted a quiet break to relax, sunbathe, and explore a little around Ölüdeniz, so we were glad we booked here.
