I've traveled from Chile to Canada and across Asia as far as Vietnam, and around Turkey too, and I've never experienced racism this openly before. I felt treated worse than an animal, even though I'm white and Spanish. I can't imagine what it might be like for someone who is Black. When I arrived before check-in, I asked for coffee. In Turkey, it's customary to offer a guest tea or coffee, but they charged me $3.50 while another couple waiting there got theirs for free. Later, a Saudi couple was leaving, and the woman at reception followed them to perfume the lobby after their smiles. It also seemed like Turkish guests and foreigners were assigned separate floors. Breakfast ran until 11:00, but when I came down at 10:20 there was no tea or coffee left. I asked for one, and was told it was finished. Half an hour later, a Turkish couple came in for breakfast, and she asked what they'd like to drink and brought them a special cup of tea.

The place is central and reasonably priced, so I thought it was a good option and would recommend it. It was the first hotel I stayed in in Ordu. Everything was clean, including the room, bed, sheets, and towels. A special thanks to the gentleman who looked after us, though I can't remember his name 😊
