Getting around from Funda Hotel was easy: shops are a short walk away, there’s a little supermarket across the street, and a taxi stand right next door. Husam and his team were welcoming and quick to help, including with a loose plug point and parking our rental car. We had a compact room for three, with a single bed for each of us. Luggage and personal things had to go in the shared spaces. Breakfast came with a city and Black Sea view. It seemed mostly Turkish food, but there was also bread, coffee, cheese, salad and cereal. Ask the kitchen for eggs cooked fresh.

The Avalon restaurant is upstairs, with a lovely view of the sea and the big mosque, and a menu with plenty of different meals. We spent five days here for an Erasmus project with a colleague. Whenever we called reception for something, they responded quickly and brought it up within five minutes. The room was cleaned and restocked with towels, water, coffee, carton mugs and shampoo. The lobby was also a nice place to sit and rest after checkout.

I stayed last week and had a good time. They also took care of parking for the car I’d rented at the airport. The hotel is affordable and handy, in a strategic spot in Trabzon, and breakfast was good with a nice Black Sea view.

Shopping is easy, with the shops nearby, and we were happy with our September stay. My wife and I got a warm welcome, and the hotel has private parking with staff who helped us with the car. Breakfast was good, and the sea view from the breakfast hall was lovely. Our room was small, so it may not suit anyone wanting lots of space, though I think they have larger rooms than the one we booked.

Our room was clean and a good size. The reception staff were really helpful, and Trabzon meydanı was about a 10-15 minute walk away.
