Gorky House

Görkem Hanım is a remarkably attentive manager. I've stayed here for at least two nights on every holiday. The place is spotless and spacious, the jacuzzi is amazing, and the hot water has never been a problem. It's perfect in every way and close to everything. I highly recommend it to everyone ♥️

The room was booked for the jacuzzi, but after two days we still couldn't use it, and the hot water situation was a mess throughout our stay. On day one the jacuzzi tap only gave a weak trickle. Görkem Hanım said it was fine, then said she'd sort it out the next day after I sent a video. We ended up using the electric heater for a normal shower instead. On the second day, a plumber was meant to come. I was asked to turn the taps on and off while we waited, and it was already 4 pm before anyone showed up. We went out to explore Urla, then I came back when I heard the plumber was there. He'd left by the time I arrived, and the water still barely ran. Görkem Hanım said he'd sent her a video showing it fixed. I sent her another video, and she said she'd call him back. We didn't return until after 8:30 pm. She then said he'd come at 8. He was gone again. Someone had been in the jacuzzi with shoes on, taken the filter off the tap, run cold water, and left the dirt in the tub. It still wasn't hot. Görkem Hanım said a pump needed to be installed after we checked out. When I reminded her we'd chosen the place for the jacuzzi and had gone two days without it, she just said sorry. Then the bathroom's electric water heater wasn't working either. Görkem Hanım started talking about a thermosiphon on the first floor, and I got fed up and asked them to send someone or come fix it themselves. The morning technician came back, but though he meant well, he didn't seem to know plumbing. He suggested the ground-floor room for a shower, but neither he nor I could find hot water there. No jacuzzi, no hot water, just a place to sleep. Two days of our trip were wasted. I told Görkem I was leaving in the morning, and she promised to come and refund us. She didn't show up, but said we could go and she'd transfer the money. Ten hours later, when I called because it hadn't arrived, she said the technician who'd come the night before had reported hot water. It felt like she was making out that I was lying, even though her own technician had checked the day before. In the end, they charged us for the one remaining day. When I complained that we paid for a jacuzzi room we couldn't use for two days and didn't even have hot water for a day, they said they'd already discounted the rate from 5,000 to 4,000 lira per day.

I had such a lovely holiday in the art street. The house was spotless, and I want to thank Görkem Hanım especially. She looked after us like we'd known each other for years. We'll see her again as soon as we get the chance. Take care, with love.

The location worked really well, about 100 meters from the art street. Ms. Görkem was very attentive, and the house looked just like the photos, maybe even better in person. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Urla.
