At the Yilan B&B "Shanshui Yunji" in Shichao Village, Jiaoxi Township, the first thing I noticed was the fresh wood scent. Green plants fill the corners, and neither the furniture nor the interiors are coated with chemical paint. Strands that look like silk twist, tie, and climb through the space, while wave-like ripples spread and reflect the surrounding scenery. It all brings mountains and water together.

On 11/11, I got married, and Boss A-Xin helped me find a whole-house rental in northern Yilan that could fit dozens of people. He didn’t skimp on the details, either. The wood decor suited the older family members, the kid-friendly rooms worked well for children, and the locally handmade beds were good for friends whose backs tend to bother them. The other staff were very helpful too. The hosts and the place were both top-notch.

The owner was very friendly, and there’s even an elevator here, which stood out. The room felt comfortable, with stylish light fixtures imported from Thailand. Solid wood furniture and the cypress scent gave the space a nice feel. The bathroom had heating and a cypress tub, and the hot water pressure was strong. Everything was great. I’d definitely recommend this guesthouse.

My one-and-a-half-year-old had a great time playing independently with the non-toxic wooden toys in the room, while I could finally relax for a bit. There were storybooks and puzzle toys outside the room too. The owner was so kind, even giving me a ride to the guesthouse and then to rent a car after learning I had a child and no transportation. The whole place was clean and comfortable. We stayed two nights and were very happy. I’d love to come back and try the other themed rooms!
