Hok House

I loved the soft, cozy atmosphere and interior as soon as I arrived. The place is welcoming and very friendly for English speakers, right next to Formosa Boulevard MRT. There's a shared reading area and kitchen, plus a lift for luggage. The owner also made a beautifully illustrated map of local attractions, which led me to some real gems in Kaohsiung. I'd come back when I get the chance.

The owner was so kind and hospitable that they waited for us past the check-in cutoff. Hok House is right by exit 2 of Formosa Boulevard station, and the central location made it easy to get around. The hostel is clean and nicely decorated, with a homely feel and a farm-to-table cafe on level 1. Service was excellent, and I'd recommend it to anyone after affordable accommodation in Kaohsiung.

The building has been renovated, and the designer did a lovely job keeping its old character while adding simple shapes and materials. The details are thoughtfully designed, and the whole place feels comfortable and well put together. I really appreciated staying here and would book a longer visit next time.

We spent 7 nights here and would absolutely return. The vintage feel, accessories, setup, and soft jazz in the kitchen during the day gave the place a lot of character. The kitchen had fast wifi, around 10-12 mbps, and free hot tea, iced tea, and cookies. The rooms were comfortable. Our Oval room was on the small side but designed so well that it was easy to live in. There was also a lovely study on Level 2 and a great shared kitchen on level 3 where guests could eat and chat. Staff were friendly and helpful, even providing a guide to nearby food and amenities. Formosa Blvd MRT station is just a 150m walk, and Liuhe night market is 300m away. There are loads of good food options within 400m, for any meal or supper, as well as gifts to take home.
