Hotel Ever Spring

I stayed midweek in the slow season, when Penghu felt almost deserted, with hardly anyone out and very few cars or scooters. My low service rating is about the hotel’s policies, not the staff I dealt with. They were helpful and professional. The rate was okay, especially after Penghu’s winter tourism vouchers, and the room was clean with a mini fridge for drinks. It was on the small side, though, with no drawers or closet and no in-room safe. The walls seemed thin or poorly soundproofed, and it felt a bit humid, especially after a shower. The location is good, basically across from the harbor, with small shops nearby and scooter rental right across from the hotel entrance. My main issue was checkout at 10 AM, the earliest I’ve encountered in all my travels. Noon or 11 at the latest is more typical. I thought maybe late checkout would be possible since the hotel and city were so quiet, but it cost 300nt for every hour after 10. Really? I’ve usually been given an extra hour, sometimes two, for free. I’ve only been refused when it was high season and the hotel was full, which is understandable. But it was cold and windy, the city was nearly empty, and so was the hotel. I was happy with everything until then, but the policy left a bitter taste. Unless it changes, I wouldn’t come back or recommend the place. After reading some negative reviews and the hotel’s defensive replies, I also doubt they care about my constructive criticism.
