I expected a smaller hotel room, since I was in Taiwan, but this was the largest room I've stayed in here. It was comfortable, had wonderful views, and was easy to reach from all over Jiu Fen. The family running the place made the stay especially welcoming and warm. They were sweet and accommodating, and helped us plan the day's logistics. Speaking Chinese helped a lot. I'd come back to JiuFen and hope to see the family again.
My mum and I had a comfortable, enjoyable two-night stay. Thanks to the Windsor’s Han-Guan staff for their warm hospitality, advice on scenic spots and major attractions, and especially for arranging the luggage logistics. We'll definitely stay here again on our next trip.
Room was cleaner, more spacious, and had a better view than I'd expected. The host was nice and accommodating, and it's very close to the old street and lanterns. I made an unplanned detour to Jiufen on my cycling trip around Taiwan and had to find a hotel late, around 8pm. They were easy to reach through WhatsApp by scanning the QR code at the front of the hotel, and replied right away. They let me bring my bike inside and shared tips about what to see. Highly recommend it, and I'd stay again when I visit Jiufen.
The bathroom is the room's one small drawback: it can feel a bit cramped if you're long-legged. I paid 4800 for our family of four for one night. Otherwise, it had what we needed: bath towels, coffee and tea, water, A/C and heater, TV, and more. I'd suggest adding hand soap at the sink and small face towels. I used the body wash instead. They respond very promptly on WhatsApp, the owner is friendly and explains the sights, and they let us check in early, around 12+. Highly recommend staying here. We stayed one night at Hanguan 2 in December. The room was clean and spacious for four, just like the website pictures. There was a window in the shower and toilet area, with mountain and sea views and blinds. That area is sheltered but partly open-air, so you can feel the cool air. A staircase leads to a little attic where you can sit and relax with the scenery. Adults can't stand up there, only sit on beanbags or chair cushions. It had a low table, mirror, and dehumidifier. The shower pressure was great, and hot water came through quickly. Breakfast was good, with milk tea, coffee, or fruit tea to choose from. They gave my son packet milk too. It was a nice plate of triple-decker ham and cheese sandwich with vegetables, side salad, and fruit. Hanguan is just below the breakfast place, so you don't need to walk outdoors in the rain. It was rainy and getting foggy the morning we checked out. We drove 170km from Flying Cow Ranch. There's a dedicated carpark and it was easy to reach. The owner came to collect our luggage on a motorbike. Like us, pack an overnight bag. It's about a five-minute walk from the carpark to the B&B. Jiufen has lots of stairs, so it may not suit anyone who struggles with them. The street food was great. I've been here many times over the years and came back to relax and enjoy the food. It's very busy in the late morning and afternoon, but quiet early in the day and at night after the crowds leave. We had dinner at Xingchen Roast Chicken, which reminded me of the roast chicken near the crayon factory in Yilan. Call an hour ahead to preorder. It was a little pricey, 850twd for a whole chicken, but tasty. The chicken is huge, so don't order too much. Xingchen is about 15 minutes away and involves lots of stairs. Shi Chuan is a closer option. This minsu is one of the better places I've stayed in Jiufen. I stayed at their Weifeng Hanguan years ago too, and would come again.
We were able to have breakfast before checking out the next morning, and the office patio had a great view over parts of Jioufen. The accommodation was pretty and functional, peaceful and quiet, and essentially right beside the old street for easy access to tourist spots. We had trouble finding the place at first because of our own navigation, but the staff were very helpful in guiding us there and handling our luggage both on arrival and departure. The staff member checking us in kindly explained local sights, marked them on a map, and went over public transport, routes, and how to get back to the accommodation. We stayed here in May 2024 during our Jioufen trip. It was a 10/10 experience, and we'd book again.
