Ming Lu Holiday Hotel

The room was spacious and clean, and we didn't have any noise trouble where we stayed. It could use an update, but that didn't bother us. We haven't tried the hot spa yet, though we did try the fish spa, which was a bonus. We arrived at the parking lot, where you can't drive all the way to the hotel, and at first thought we'd booked in the wrong area. It looked dirty and almost abandoned. Then a shuttle arrived to collect us. There's a camera pointed at the lot, so I assume that's how they knew we were there. Once we rode up, the narrow street had a nice feel and we felt much better. The hotel staff were super friendly, though they don't speak English. With WiFi and Google Translate, communication was easy.

The hot springs may be the nicest in lushan, and the price for a good room is terrific. Compared with other hot spring resorts such as guguan, where you pay two or three times more, this felt like much better value. The downside was the changing rooms at the springs: they looked dirty and neglected, though what I saw was just leaves. Book directly by phone and ask for a room in the building with the swimming pool. Those rooms are really nice, while the rooms in the building next to the main street look very dated.

The outdoor spa on level 6 was great, and a staff member was there looking after the area. Cleanliness could be better, though. The fish spa seemed neglected, with a few dead fish floating around. Our room felt dated but was spacious and well equipped, including a hot water boiler. There was an air conditioner, but we were told we couldn't switch it on. I'm not sure what the point of having it was. We couldn't control the temperature, but there was an extra thick blanket in the cupboard. An okay hotel in the area.

The hot spring was okay, with another pool where fish eat your dead skin. The hotel feels quite dated, and the facilities are run down.
