Full Spring Hotel Taichung

The room and shared spaces were clean and spacious, with complimentary snacks and drinks. But we stayed four nights in June as a family of three and barely slept well. The sound insulation was very poor, and the hotel rents rooms by the hour, so there was noise late at night and early in the morning. The bathroom door had no lock, and the elevator had no access control. There also wasn’t a nearby bus stop or MRT station for getting to Taichung’s main attractions.

For the price, I thought it was well worth it. The room was spacious and had all the amenities I needed, and the rate was very affordable. I’d gladly recommend it.

A lovely little find for such a low price. The room was clean, the service was extraordinarily good, and breakfast and coffee were included. Hard to ask for more at that rate.

I was exhausted and had an early tour, so I left my real silver earrings and necklace by the sink instead of putting them away. When I came back, housekeeping had cleaned the room and the jewelry was gone. I checked all my luggage and then told the front desk. I suspected someone might have taken it, but had no evidence, so I can’t say for certain who was responsible. I emailed the hotel throughout the day and arranged to meet the manager at 9 p.m. But the manager didn’t seem fully informed, and I had to explain the whole situation again. They even suspected my mother, who was staying with me, which made me furious. I’m a Korean travel blogger with many SNS followers, and the hotel took no action until I mentioned that. I said I wouldn’t identify anyone as a thief, but would honestly write about what happened on my blog, SNS, and Google. The hotel then said they should email me to say they wouldn’t take legal action, and suddenly offered to refund the accommodation fee. That response made me feel like I was the one who had done something wrong. I went to the police station and reported the theft. The hotel refunded my stay, but it was less than a third of the value of what I lost. The earrings and necklace are no longer made, so I can’t replace them. I’d worn them more than anything else for ten years, and losing them ruined a day of my trip. I cried all day and felt awful. Since only those items were missing after the room was cleaned, I think it’s reasonable to be suspicious, even though I can’t prove the housekeeper took them. The hotel should retrain its staff or hire new people. The room was also so cold I couldn’t sleep. My nose froze all night, and the humidity was so high that my whole family caught colds.
