Cockroaches in a sixth-floor room were a big concern, especially since other reviews mention them too. It suggests a wider problem the hotel knows about but doesn’t address. There was also a squashed mosquito on the wall beside the TV, so the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. I wouldn’t stay here again, and this is the first hotel in Taiwan I wouldn’t recommend. Our room had light switches and power sockets right beside the pillow, which was an odd setup. Check-in was through a self-service terminal with staff help, but I only got my room number verbally. Maybe the machine was meant to print something and didn’t. I arrived at 14:57 and was told I couldn’t check in until 15:00. After travelling all day, being turned away over three minutes felt petty and like very poor customer service. I waited, went back to reception, and didn’t get the sense they were embarrassed. You can’t quibble with paying guests over three minutes and then give them a room with cockroaches. I’d also be wary of some of the five-star reviews. For example, nine five-star reviews appeared within minutes of each other. Maybe that’s a coincidence, maybe not. The timing and blandness of some reviews seem odd. Fake reviews? Make up your own mind. And with cockroaches in the room, I can only imagine what’s happening in the basement kitchen.
