Room C faces Chongqing South Road, so I expected traffic noise, but the soundproofing worked surprisingly well and I barely heard anything. The dorm-style room has several beds, each with curtains for a reasonable amount of privacy. The space was simple, functional, clean, well maintained, and comfortable, making it suitable for backpackers, solo travelers, or people on a budget. Air conditioning is controlled centrally by the hostel, doesn't run 24 hours, and can't be adjusted from the room. You also can't open the windows or doors yourself, so you need to ask staff for ventilation. That could be inconvenient if you have particular ventilation needs or an irregular schedule. The shared bathrooms were a real plus. They were in great condition, designed to keep things moving, and rarely crowded. There are several outlets for hair dryers or personal devices, clean Western-style toilets, showers with steady pressure and plenty of hot water, plus large mirrors and sinks for getting ready. Other areas have hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, and coin-operated washers and dryers. Everything was well maintained, clearly labeled, and easy to use. The first-floor area serves breakfast during the day and turns into a bar in the evening. It's open plan, with a security station, kitchen counter, reception, accessible restroom, and lounge separated only by light partitions or curtains. Sound travels easily, and at night the lounge can get loud from conversations, music, and doors opening and closing. It's not a good place for quiet activities or focused work. The bar is run by an outside vendor, not the hostel, so if noise is bothering you, it's best to speak directly to the bar staff. The front desk has limited ability to help. Front desk hours are daily from 3pm to 10pm, when staff can help with check-in, luggage storage, and directions. In the mornings and late at night, the desk is usually unstaffed. You can try asking breakfast staff or cleaners for immediate help, though they may not be able to resolve every issue quickly. The breakfast area is only for limited use, and staff will ask guests to leave once breakfast is over. For longer use of shared space, head to the first-floor lounge. There are elevators, which is handy with heavy bags, mobility needs, or equipment. They're divided between odd and even floors, so check the floor and buttons to avoid an unnecessary detour.

The location was good, and the front desk staff were nice. But the AC in room 3C was broken or not in use. Instead of keeping the room off the market, they put in a portable unit for the night. It was obnoxiously loud and didn't cool the room at all, which is typical of that kind of AC. This was in the middle of summer.

I liked staying here and would come back. It’s a clean, modern hostel with capsule beds or a double bed. I got lucky and had the room to myself for two nights. Downstairs there’s a place with plenty of breakfast choices that becomes a bar in the evening, with Wi-Fi and room to sit and work.

That little art-filled lounge on the second floor was my favorite place to unwind, even though it’s small. My four-person room was clean and roomy, and the showers had good hot water and pressure. They provide hand towels instead of a fixed bath mat and replace them daily. Staff were helpful and let me check in early after my flight was delayed. The location is central, with some nice food and tea shops around. One safety suggestion: the steel corners on the top bunk’s stairs are sharp, so rubber tape or caps would help.

For a short, budget-conscious stay, Bouti City Capsule Inn is a practical no-frills option. Its location near public transit is handy, and Taipei Main Station is easy to reach. From there, you can take the MRT to the international airport.
