CHECK inn Taipei Main Station

It was handy for train stations and there were plenty of places to eat nearby, all at a low price. But I wouldn't stay here again. I spent 6 nights, and though the room was bright, it had a stale smell. I had to spray my own perfume to make it more pleasant. Cleaning was hit or miss: some days there was no floor mat, and other days there was still hair on the bathroom floor. The bedsheet didn't feel clean, so I used my own pillow case. On the last night I accidentally pulled the sheet back and saw how moldy the mattress was. That was the last straw. You could also hear corridor noise, since the rooms aren't exactly soundproof.

The location is fantastic, the staff are very friendly, and the service is good. The rooms were relatively clean too. But it may not suit light sleepers. My first room was on the 2nd floor facing the main street, and the traffic felt like it was right beside me. I asked to switch, and the staff kindly moved me to the 8th floor. That cut the noise a lot, though I could still hear some outside sounds. The walls are thin as well, so you can clearly hear people moving around and, unfortunately, bathroom noises from next door.

This was a great base for getting around Taipei. It's close to Taipei main station and across Peace Park, which is lovely for walks. I loved my room and the location, and had a great experience overall. The staff were friendly and could help me in English.

The room was pleasant and had a bathtub, and we'd consider staying here again because it's only about ten minutes from Ximending. Booking.com check-in and check-out were both quick and easy. Our first impression was great: the short-haired receptionist with glasses greeted us with lots of enthusiasm. On the third day, though, we found a lot of dust under the bed and a sock that wasn't ours, which we assume was left by previous guests. It was off-putting, and the experience would have been much better if every area had been cleaned thoroughly.
