CHECK inn Taipei Neihu

My non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes. It was a horrible experience, and they wouldn’t give me a discount or refund.

The area is mostly new residential housing, with too few places to eat nearby. On the hotel itself, I’d lower the stated star rating by at least one or two to get a realistic idea of the stay. Anyone familiar with other Check-Inn properties in Taiwan knows comfort can vary a lot, and this NeiHu one badly needs updating. The room felt budget-level, unlike what the edited booking photos suggest. Hot water didn’t get fixed, even though the maintenance engineer said on the last day of our two-day stay that it had been. The outlet in the desk light fixture didn’t work, and a strong mold odor was the biggest problem. A humidifier brought up on the final day helped for a short time, but the smell quickly came back, apparently from decades of buildup. Water also escaped through gaps in the shower glass and pooled on the bathroom floor.

We keep coming back because the price is good, the staff are nice, and the bed is huge, king size. The place is a bit old and hasn’t been renovated yet, but we still love it here.

My room had a decent view, a bathtub and a separate standing shower. The hotel is nice and big, and the bed was really soft and large. I messaged them on Line whenever I needed things like toilet paper, trash bags, soap or water bottles, and they replied quickly and brought them up on time. They also delivered three meals a day to my room, and most of the food tasted delicious.
