COMMA Boutique Hotel

Our suite was huge, with a nice balcony and a big bathroom, and we were very happy with our three-night stay. There was some noise from doors as people came and went, but with only a few rooms per floor it didn’t bother us. The outside was well soundproofed. We appreciated the free massage chairs in the communal area and tea at reception. The staff were kind and helpful, and the location was great. I’d recommend it.

The location inside Xi Men Ding is good, and the bed was comfortable. The room was larger than I expected, but there was a lingering sewage smell in the toilet that they couldn’t get rid of. The blanket was too small for two, though we were told that was the standard size.

The location is handy, a short walk from Ximending business district and the MRT, with plenty of shops, food, and massage places nearby. We stayed four nights. The room was small but tidy, and the bed was comfortable enough. Free cold drinks downstairs, massage chairs, and coin laundry were nice to have. Still, the price felt high for such a small room, even if the location may explain it. The TV had connection problems the whole time and wasn’t really fixed. Housekeeping could do a much better job with timing, cleaning, and rubbish. We were out from 8am and got back at 4:30pm one day to find the room still untouched. Some housekeeping staff were unfriendly, and one receptionist was particularly rude and impatient at check-in and when we asked questions. The poor attitude and customer service are why I wouldn’t recommend it. For a budget hotel, it isn’t especially cheap, and you could find another option for the same money.

The room was clean, with a comfortable bed, good water pressure, and hot water. At USD $75, though, 135 ft.² felt quite small by western standards, especially for two people. Watch out for the lobby chairs!
